No Post on Sundays: League of Strays, Crewel, and Poltergeeks

Welcome to the first "No Post on Sundays" of September. Last month we had over 1,000 page views on the site, which is more than all my other pageviews put together. Let's do our best to get more this month. Now, without further delay, let's get on with it!

1. League of Strays by L.B. Schulman

Release Date: October 1, 2012
Publisher: Amulet Publishers
Length: 288 pages
Review Date: September 13, 2012

"This suspenseful debut follows a group of teenage misfits in their delicious quest for revenge on those who have wronged them at their high school. When a mysterious note appears in Charlotte’s mailbox inviting her to join the League of Strays, she’s hopeful it will lead to making friends. What she discovers is a motley crew of loners and an alluring, manipulative ringleader named Kade. Kade convinces the group that they need one another both for friendship and to get back at the classmates and teachers who have betrayed them. But Kade has a bigger agenda. In addition to vandalizing their school and causing fights between other students, Kade’s real intention is a dangerous plot that will threaten lives and force Charlotte to choose between her loyalty to the League and her own conscience."

2. Crewel by Gennifer Albin

Release Date: October 16, 2012
Publisher: Farrar, Straus, and Giroux
Length: 368 pages
Review Date: September 15, 2012

"Incapable. Awkward. Artless.

That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.

Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.

Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.

Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.

Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back."

3. Poltergeeks by Sean Cummings

Release Date: October 2, 2012
Publisher: Strange Chemistry
Length: 320 pages
Review Date: September 18, 2012

"15-year-old Julie Richardson is about to learn that being the daughter of a witch isn't all it's cracked up to be. When she and her best friend, Marcus, witness an elderly lady jettisoned out the front door of her home, it's pretty obvious to Julie there's a supernatural connection.

In fact, there's a whisper of menace behind increasing levels of poltergeist activity all over town. After a large-scale paranormal assault on Julie's high school, her mother falls victim to the spell Endless Night. Now it's a race against time to find out who is responsible or Julie won't just lose her mother's soul, she'll lose her mother's life."

That concludes this week's segment. I only have enough ARCs to do a few more NPoS, but I will be doing a few hauls every now and then and so this will eventually become a monthly segment like my "Most Wanted" posts. Be sure to follow me by Email and on Twitter @FlyeZachary93, if for some reason the review is delayed I'll do my best to warn you guys ahead of time. Anyway, thanks for reading and I'll be announcing my "super secret" giveaway this month so be sure to stay tuned!
