Most Wanted: Books of November

Hey y'all so you may be wondering why this edition of Most Wanted is at the beginning of the month. Well, that's easy, I realized that having a Most Wanted list in the middle of the month for the upcoming month was a lot more complicated than having a list at the beginning of the month I'm mentioning. Now, starting in this edition I will also be explaining why these books I've chosen are on my Most Wanted list. Mainly due to the fact that this just seems to be cold and factual, whereas warm and opinionated may be better received. Let's get started, shall we?

#1 Reached by Ally Condie (Not the first in the series, read the description at your own risk)

Release Date: November 13, 2012
Author: Ally Condie
Publisher: Dutton Children's Books
Length: 512 pages

"After leaving Society and desperately searching for the Rising—and each other—Cassia and Ky have found what they were looking for, but at the cost of losing each other yet again: Cassia has been assigned to work for the Rising from within Society, while Ky has been stationed outside its borders. But nothing is as predicted, and all too soon the veil lifts and things shift once again.

In this gripping conclusion to the #1 New York Times-bestselling Matched Trilogy, Cassia will reconcile the difficulties of challenging a life too confining, seeking a freedom she never dreamed possible, and honoring a love she cannot live without."

So, if you haven't read Matched the first installment in this breathtaking series, open up a new tab, go to the website of your local library and put a copy on hold. Trust me you won't regret it, this series is all about free will and the pursuit of finding oneself in a society where everything is decided for you, even the person who you will marry. I absolutely cannot wait to see how this story ends, also the love triangle, though still a bit biased, is probably one of the most unpredictable ones I've read.

#2 Undeadly by Michele Vail

Release Date: November 20, 2012
Author: Michele Vail
Publisher: HarlequinTeen
Length: 272 pages

"The day I turned 16, my boyfriend-to-be died. I brought him back to life. Then things got a little weird...

Molly Bartolucci wants to blend in, date hottie Rick and keep her zombie-raising abilities on the down-low. Then the god Anubis chooses her to become a reaper-and she accidentally undoes the work of another reaper, Rath. Within days, she’s shipped off to the Nekyia Academy, an elite school that trains the best necromancers in the world. And her personal reaping tutor? Rath. Who seems to hate her guts.

Rath will be watching closely to be sure she completes her first assignment-reaping Rick, the boy who should have died. The boy she still wants to be with. To make matters worse, students at the academy start turning up catatonic, and accusations fly-against Molly. The only way out of this mess? To go through hell. Literally"

The reason I want to read this? Two words: Egyptian Mythology. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a huge mythology buff and I'm looking forward to how this series will spin these myths. Plus, bonus points, Richelle Mead endorses it.

#3 Black City by Elizabeth Richards

Release Date: November 13, 2012
Author: Elizabeth Richards
Publisher: G. P. Putnam's Sons BYR
Length: 384 pages

"A dark and tender post-apocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war.

In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash’s long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught, they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong.

When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths."

So, this is a vampire-ish novel, which as long as they don't sparkle, I'm all for. I'm also a big sucker for forbidden love books and wonder where this series is headed. I know a lot of people have their reservations about vampire books since all the hype can make it so even the most mediocre vampire related novel could get published. That being said this sounds really good seems to be a series that won't dissapoint. Also, if it's any consolation it looks like the series might not even use the word "vampire."

#4 Touched by Corrine Jackson

Release Date: November 27, 2012
Author: Corrine Jackson
Publisher: Kensington Teen
Length: 304 pages

"Remy O’Malley heals people with touch—but every injury she cures becomes her own. Living in a household with an abusive stepfather, she has healed untold numbers of broken bones, burns, and bruises. And then one night her stepfather goes too far.

Being sent to live with her estranged father offers a clean start and she is eager to take it. Enter Asher Blackwell. Once a Protector of Healers, Asher sacrificed his senses to become immortal. Only by killing a Healer can a Protector recover their human senses. Falling in love is against the rules between these two enemies. Because Remy has the power to make Protectors human again, and when they find out, they’ll becoming for her—if Asher doesn’t kill her first."

This seems like a haunting and somewhat tragic paranormal YA title, and with what looks to be a forbidden romance I could hardly turn away. I'm interested to see the world building of this novel and the backstory of the Protectors and those who've given up their senses for immortality. This looks to be an interesting and maybe even thought provoking read.

So, that's it for this month. What books are you looking forward to most? Is there another book coming out in November that you're looking forward to?
